Clothesline Project: Make A Shirt - Share A Story

  • South Queens Women's March 130-01 Liberty Avenue Queens, NY, 11419 United States (map)

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. South Queens Women's March (SQWM) recognizes the key role that community building can play in promoting gender equity and empowerment in our community. We invite you to our Clothesline Project session on Friday, April 7 at 6:30pm at our office located at 130-01 Liberty Avenue Unit 1R, Richmond Hill NY 11419 (on 130 Street and not on Liberty Avenue itself).

This event is free but registration is required. Due to social distancing protocols and seating capacity, we will have to limit registration. If you register for this event but cannot make it, we kindly ask that you let us know so we can offer your seat to someone else.

The Clothesline Project is a visual display of shirts with messages and illustrations designed by survivors of violence or by someone who knows a person who has been impacted by violence. The purpose of the project is to raise awareness about the issue of sexual assault, to uplift survivors' stories and to provide a mechanism to break the silence that often surrounds these experiences.

After designing our paper tshirts, we will be packaging self-care kits for Muslim women survivors of violence during this holy month of Ramadan.

Stay tuned for more on sexual assault awareness month including our participation in @denimdaynyc !
