Join South Queens Women’s March @southqueenswomensmarch for a full-day Mental Health First Aid Certification training on December 2nd from 9am-5pm at 130-01 Liberty Avenue Unit 1R, Richmond Hill, NY 11414. This training is part of a series of programming that we are hosting during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, given the significant and undeniable intersections between gender and domestic violence and mental health. The training will be facilitated by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and certificates will be provided at the conclusion of the training.
Mental Health First Aid is a nationwide skills-based certification course that teaches participants about mental health as well as various substance-use issues. Just as CPR assists an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.
